AMEDEE at the Unified Wine and Grape Symposium 2026

The Unified Wine and Grape Symposium, held annually in Sacramento, California, is the largest wine industry event in the Western Hemisphere. In January 2026, AMEDEE returned to the symposium floor with a clear mission: to demonstrate the full potential of French oak alternatives to American winemakers and to strengthen our growing presence in the US market.

AMEDEE at the Symposium

Our booth showcased the complete AMEDEE product range, from precision-profiled chips and staves to barrel inserts and our innovative freeze-dried tannin powders. The response from winemakers was remarkable. American producers are increasingly recognizing that quality oak alternatives are not a compromise but a strategic choice that offers greater control, consistency, and creative flexibility.

Key Conversations

Several themes dominated our discussions at the symposium. Winemakers working with Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir were particularly interested in how AMEDEE's numbered profile system could help them achieve specific sensory outcomes without the unpredictability of barrel lots. Craft producers appreciated the accessibility of our products for smaller batch sizes, where investing in new barrels may not be economically viable.

The growing interest in non-alcoholic and low-alcohol wines also featured prominently. Several producers asked about oak solutions specifically designed for dealcoholized wines, an area where AMEDEE's expertise in tannin chemistry provides a genuine competitive advantage.

The US Market Opportunity

The United States remains the world's largest wine market by consumption, and California alone produces more wine than most countries. Yet the adoption of premium oak alternatives in the US still lags behind regions like Australia and South America, where producers have long embraced these tools as standard practice. This represents a significant growth opportunity for AMEDEE.

Through our partnership with Joe Wagner and Enotools, we are building a distribution network that puts AMEDEE products within reach of winemakers across the country. The Unified Symposium is a critical touchpoint in this effort, allowing us to connect directly with producers and demonstrate the quality difference that French oak craftsmanship makes.

Looking Forward

Each year at the Unified Symposium reinforces our belief that the American market is ready for a new approach to oak. Winemakers are seeking precision, consistency, and the kind of deep expertise that only comes from a company rooted in generations of cooperage tradition. AMEDEE is committed to being that partner.
